About me

Welcome — I’m so glad you’re here.

Nomadic Grace began as a promise to myself. As one year turned into the next, I realized I was back in my childhood room, working the same job I had in high school. I’d gone to college, taken on new roles, explored different parts of Canada — and somehow, I had ended up right where I started.

That quiet realization lit a spark. I didn’t want to stay in a life that felt like a loop. I wanted something new, something brave.
So I packed a bag, booked a ticket, and followed the call of adventure to the far side of the world: New Zealand.

This blog is my way of documenting that journey — not just the places I visit, but the way I settle into them. I’m not here to check off bucket lists or snap photos in a hurry. I’m here to pause, to listen, to live in the rhythm of a new place.

What You’ll Find Here

You’ll find journal entries about my first solo, long-term trip. Recipes learned from local kitchens and conversations that linger long after they’ve ended. Mistakes and milestones. Moments when the light hits just right. The quiet awe of a forest stream. The delight of discovering a dish I’ve never heard of and learning how to make it from scratch.

I’m drawn to off-the-beaten-path travel — the kinds of experiences passed down through neighborhoods, not brochures. And I’m always looking for beauty in the everyday: the markets, the trails, the handwritten menus, the people who make a place feel like home.

Why I Write

At first, this was just a way to share updates with friends and family. But somewhere along the way, I realized it was also a way to reach new friends — to connect with fellow kind and curious souls who might also be seeking slower, softer ways to explore the world.

If that sounds like you — welcome. I hope you feel at home here.

Let’s share stories, ideas, and the small magic of wandering with intention.

— Grace
